Beach Is Open












This tutorial was written by QueenBrat on 07/23/2013 using PSP 9. Any version of PSP should work.

It is a beginners tutorial.

I'm using the beautiful artwork of Jamie Kidd of www.jamiekiddart.com. The tube and license can be purchased at Creative Design Outlet.

The scrap kit used in this tutorial is "Toes In The Sand" and can be purchased here.

Any resemblance to any other tutorial is strictly coincidental.

Supplies Needed:
PSP program of your choice (Free trial version PSPX4 here.)
Animation Shop
1 Tube of your choice
1 Scrap kit from the 'Toes In The Sand'

1. Open the animation QBD_BeachIsOpen_WaterAnimation.psd located in your supplies zip.

2. Press 'SHIFT & D' at the same time to duplicate the animation.

3. Close your original animation. The duplicate is your working graphic.

4. Open one of the netting files in your kit. Resize the netting to 650x650px. I used: QBD_ToesInTheSand_YellowNetting.

5. Copy and paste the netting into your working graphic. Send it to the bottom. LAYERS > ARRANGE > SEND TO BOTTOM.

6. Open the mask Becky_Mask028.jpg in your supplies zip.

7. Apply the mask to your netting layer. LAYERS > NEW MASK LAYER > FROM IMAGE > SOURCE LUMINANCE > LOCATE IN DROP DOWN > CLICK OKAY.

8. Merge your masked group. Add a drop shadow of: vertical=1, horizontal=1, opacity=60, blur=2.0, color=#000000

9. Open the paper QBD_ToesInTheSand_BlueSky from your kit to use as a background.

10. Copy and paste the paper into your working graphic. Send it to the bottom.

11. Open the mask Becky_Mask023.jpg in your supplies zip.

12. Apply the mask to your paper layer. LAYERS > NEW MASK LAYER > FROM IMAGE > SOURCE LUMINANCE > LOCATE IN DROP DOWN > CLICK OKAY.

13. Merge your masked group.

14. Open one of the porthole frames in your kit. Resize to 550x500px. I used: QBD_ToesInTheSand_GreenPortholeFrame.

15. Copy and paste your frame into your working graphic as the new top layer. Align the frame with your animation. Add a drop shadow of: vertical=1, horizontal=1, opacity=60, blur=10.89, color=#000000

16. Open your tube of choice. I used the beautiful work of Jamie Kidd.

17. Copy and paste your tube into your working graphic as the new top layer. Position your tube to your liking coming out of your frame on the left. Trim any excess of the tube that is outside of your frame to your liking. Add a drop shadow of: vertical=1, horizontal=1, opacity=60, blur=10.89, color=#000000

18. Open one of the fish in your kit. Resize to 90x49px. I used: QBD_ToesInTheSand_YellowFish.

19. Copy and paste the fish into your working graphic as a new layer on top of the 1st layer of your animation. Position to your liking inside of the porthole frame area. Add a drop shadow of: vertical=1, horizontal=1, opacity=60, blur=10.89, color=#000000

20. Open a second fish from your kit. Resize to 100x100px. I used: QBD_ToesInTheSand_GreenFish.

21. Copy and paste the fish into your working graphic as a new layer on top of the 1st fish. Position to your liking inside of the porthole frame area. Add a drop shadow of: vertical=1, horizontal=1, opacity=60, blur=10.89, color=#000000

22. Open the file QBD_ToesInTheSand_SandBorder.png in your kit. Resize to 525x146px.

23. Copy and paste the sand border into your working graphic as the new top layer. Position it along the bottom of your frame.

24. Open the file QBD_ToesInTheSand_SandCastle.png in your kit. Resize to 150x150px.

25. Copy and paste the sand castle into your working graphic as a new layer just under your sand border layer. Position to your liking coming out of the sand. Add a drop shadow of: vertical=1, horizontal=1, opacity=60, blur=10.89, color=#000000

26. Open one of the shovels in your kit. Resize to 76x100px. I used: QBD_ToesInTheSand_RedShovel.png

27. Copy and paste the shovel into your working graphic as the new top layer. Position the shovel to your liking on the left of the sand castle. Add a drop shadow of: vertical=1, horizontal=1, opacity=60, blur=10.89, color=#000000

28. With your freehand selection tool set to a feather of 6, highlight the bottom portion of your shovel. (See preview)



29. Click delete to remove the highlighted area of the shovel.

30. Open one of the buckets in your kit. Resize to 114x100px. I used: QBD_ToesInTheSand_BlueBucket.png

31. Copy and paste the bucket into your working graphic as the new top layer. Rotate it 90 degrees to the left. Position the bucket to your liking on the right of the sand castle. Add a drop shadow of: vertical=1, horizontal=1, opacity=60, blur=10.89, color=#000000

32. With your freehand selection tool set to a feather of 6, highlight the bottom portion of your bucket. (See preview)



33. Click delete to remove the highlighted area of the bucket.

34. Open one of the surfboards in your kit. Resize to 169x550px. I used: QBD_ToesInTheSand_MulticolorStripeSurfboard.png.

35. Copy and past the surfboard into your working graphic as a new layer just below your sand border layer. Position to your liking along the right side of your frame. Add a drop shadow of: vertical=1, horizontal=1, opacity=60, blur=10.89, color=#000000

36. Open the sign QBD_ToesInTheSand_YellowBeachOpenSign.png in your kit. Resize to 250x250px.

37. Copy and paste the sign into your working graphic as a new layer on top of the surfboard layer. Rotate it 7 degrees to the right. Position to your liking along the right side in the sand. Add a drop shadow of: vertical=1, horizontal=1, opacity=60, blur=10.89, color=#000000

38. Open one of the beach balls in the kit. Resize to 125x125px. I used: QBD_ToesInTheSand_GoldRedGreenBeachBall.png.

39. Copy and paste the ball into your working graphic as a new layer on top of the sand border layer. Rotate it 55 degrees to the right. Position into your grouping in the sand around the bucket and sign. Add a drop shadow of: vertical=1, horizontal=1, opacity=60, blur=10.89, color=#000000

40. Open one of the starfish in your kit. Resize to 50x50px. I used: QBD_ToesInTheSand_BlueStarFish.png.

41. Copy and paste the starfish into your working graphic as a new layer on top of the sand border layer. Position to your liking. Add a drop shadow of: vertical=1, horizontal=1, opacity=60, blur=10.89, color=#000000

42. Open the file QBD_ToesInTheSand_RedCrab.png in your kit. Resize to 50x59px.

43. Copy and paste the crab into your working graphic as a new layer on top of the sand border layer. Position to your liking. Add a drop shadow of: vertical=1, horizontal=1, opacity=60, blur=10.89, color=#000000

44. Add your copyright information and your watermark/logo.

45. Add your name. I used these settings:
Create as: Vector
Font: Riesling
Size: 96
Stroke: 1.0
Alignment: Center
Anti-alias: Smooth
Kerning: 0
Foreground: #63a1e5
Background: #63a1e5


46. Position at the bottom to your liking. Convert to a raster layer. Add a drop shadow of: vertical=1, horizontal=1, opacity=60, blur=1, color=#000000

47. Add a new raster layer and send it to the bottom. Floodfill this layer with #FFFFFF or the color/paper that you want for the background of your tag.

48. Go to the 8 Animation Frame layers. Turn the visibility off on all but Frame 1.

49. Copy merged and paste as a new image. This is your new working graphic.

50. Turn off the visibility on Frame 1 and turn it on on Frame 2.

51. Copy merged and paste as a new layer in your new working graphic.

52. Turn off the visibility on Frame 2 and turn it on on Frame 3.

53. Copy merged and paste as a new layer in your new working graphic.

54. Turn off the visibility on Frame 3 and turn it on on Frame 4.

55. Copy merged and paste as a new layer in your new working graphic.

56. Turn off the visibility on Frame 4 and turn it on on Frame 5.

57. Copy merged and paste as a new layer in your new working graphic.

58. Turn off the visibility on Frame 5 and turn it on on Frame 6.

59. Copy merged and paste as a new layer in your new working graphic.

60. Turn off the visibility on Frame 6 and turn it on on Frame 7.

61. Copy merged and paste as a new layer in your new working graphic.

62. Turn off the visibility on Frame 7 and turn it on on Frame 8.

63. Copy merged and paste as a new layer in your new working graphic.

64. Resize to the size that you desire.

65. Save your graphic to an easy to locate place as a .pspimage.

66. Open animation shop.

67. Open your working graphic in animation shop.

68. Go to EDIT > SELECT ALL

69. Go to ANIMATION > FRAME PROPERTIES > SET TO 18.

70. Save as a .gif image.
